ProjectsHere are pictures of some of the simulation projects that we have been involved in. Griffon Tactical Trainer (GTT) Upgrade As part of the Griffon Mother Ship (GMS) project for the Canadian Defence Force, Acron designed and led the implementation of the distributed simulation architecture and the overall simulator hardware upgrade. Acron based the design on COTS tools to enable the local and remote management of the entire simulation network infrastructure. This architecture is forming the basis of the Canada-wide simulation infrastructure being implemented by the Canadian Forces. The Griffon Tactical Trainers are simulators for the Canadian Forces CH-146 helicopter. Four simulators were upgraded with a completely re-designed architecture for incorporation in the distributed simulation network.
Hardware includes touch-screens and actual CDU panels from the real helicopter (on centre console in the image above). Microsoft Flight Simulator X™ Helicopter Simulator As part of a wider Serious Games initiative, Acron built a helicopter simulator to integrate MSFS X into a military command and control (C2IEDM) database and integrate it into an HLA simulation federation. This was to showcase our InfoX Information Exchange Architecture. We successfully demonstrated this at I/ITSEC 2006 in Orlando. Of note is that MSFS X had only been released a few weeks before the show!
One nice feature is the inclusion of sub-woofers under each seat. We can definitely feel the RPM changes as we fly the helicopter. Due to space and freight limitations, we ditched the short-throw projectors and screens and opted for a 42" LCD panel for the out-the-window. Acron integrated VBS1 to JCATS (Joint Conflict And Tactical Simulation) using LVC Game from Calytrix. Here are some images from that project.
