Arctic Synthetic Environments Update

Arctic Synthetic Environments Update

Acron has been under contract to DRDC-Ottawa to help develop and prototype a synthetic environment for Arctic operations. The first phase of this contract involved researching the current state of synthetic environments in the Arctic, identifying key factors that affect operations and recommending how simulation could be further developed to improve fidelity in harsh environments. As a result of the phase one report and recommendations, DRDC-Ottawa has moved ahead with the development of a prototype Arctic synthetic environment. Within this work package, Acron is developing and deploying a distributed weather system server, Acrtic terrain and software pieces that will allow the weather serv....

Acron Participates in Hercules Observer Trainer Upgrade

DRDC – Toronto along with the Canadian Forces Aerospace Warfare Centre (CFAWC) have been working to provide a training solution for CC-130 Hercules loadmasters. This work has culminated in the creation of the Hercules Observer Trainer (HOT), a simulator that allows loadmasters to learn how to identify and react to incoming missile and gunfire threats in a realistic virtual environment. To provide the student with a realistic experience, the HOT uses a large hemispherical screen so the entire field of view from the loadmaster window is visible. Loadmasters even experience the same interference with their helmet as if they were in the actual flight situation. As a member of the HOT team, Ac....
